Stickman Drawing Challenge Day One: JOY

Welcome to the August  2014 Stickman Drawing Challenge. Each day for the entire month I will give you a prompt. All you have to do is draw a stickman (or a stickman scene) depicting that prompt. Yes, you can draw a stickwomen too or stickdogs or stickcats. You can also see the entire list of prompts for each day right here if you want to get a head start on your drawing: Click this whole sentence for the entire month of Stickman prompts.

There aren’t any rules except to have fun. Don’t tell me you can’t draw because this is THE STICKMAN. Everyone can draw a stickman. Don’t tell me you can’t even draw a straight line because stickmen can be curvy. Seriously, you can do this. Don’t be a chicken. I will bock-bock at you and flap my arms around like wings. I swear.

Stickman Drawing Challenge Day 1: Joy
There are no mistakes in stickman drawings.

All you have to do is take out a pen or pencil and some paper. You can even use a post it note or the old envelope your electric bill came in. I don’t care where you draw it or what you draw it with. You can even draw it on the wall or in a bathroom stall if you want to, but don’t blame me when you get get nabbed for vandalism, or even worse, get grounded by your mother. If you are at the beach you can even draw your stickman in the sand using a stick. Yes, that’s the kind of free-for-all stickman drawing challenge I am talking about.

You can make your drawing as simple or as elaborate as you want. You are not allowed to be a perfectionist. I will boo at you if you don’t post your picture because it’s not “perfect.” That word is not allowed to be in your vocabulary for the month of August. Just pull it out of the air, crumple it up, and throw it over your shoulder. This is sloppy drawing at it’s best. This is about getting an idea on paper as quickly as possibly without worrying about it being good or awesome or terrible.

After you make your drawing just take a picture of it and put it some place where you can get a link to it. You can use your blog, instagram, flickr, or any other photo place on the web that lets you store your photo and provides a url address for your photo. Then just load your link into the inlinkz tool below.

Each day will be open until September 1st so if you miss a day you can still add a link to your stickman drawing until the end of the month.  If you are feeling generous go visit other people’s stickmen, where ever they are housed, and leave a supportive comment or you can always comment here too.

If you like hashtags as much as I do feel free to tag your drawings with #31stickmen so we can find each other on social media and make other people suspicious about what we are up to. Won’t they be surprised.

Most of all, let’s have fun and keep encouraging each other.

Also, kids are welcome to join so please NO VULGARITY or swears or anything you wouldn’t want your own child to see. If you are in doubt about what is appropriate, just ask yourself, “Would I show this to a barrel full of kittens?” If the answer is no do not put it on this blog. I know. I am like the censorship queen, but I want kids to participate in this because they are braver than we are and looser and the more kid drawings we see, the better we’ll get at this too. I promise.

Ok, so todays prompt is: JOY add you linkz below!

P.S. If you complete all 31 days of this challenge I will mail you a postcard congratulating you on being brave, awesome, and having stick-to-it-ness. On the last day I’ll ask you to send me your mailing address if you wish to receive a postcard.

Tomorrow’s prompt is: LOVE

A Is For Crocodile

The education of Tiny-Small is off to a rough start. We’ve been working on letters so I drew this coloring sheet so we could talk about the letter A. Tiny-Small had a blast, but when we called Jim to tell him about it Tiny-Small said, “Dada, A is for crocodile.” It looks like I might need to practice my drawing before we move onto the letter B!

A is for crocodile
A is for crocodile (and tomato).
