When I was younger I was always on my bicycle. I used to ride to babysitting jobs, ride to the store for candy, and ride around the block. I probably stopped riding my bike as much after I got my first car. At this point I haven’t ridden my bike in years and years and years…. Somehow that much-loved activity has fallen to the wayside. I blame having a job and family and so much laundry to do. I’d like to get back into the habit, but to be honest I am not sure I can do it anymore.
They say you never forget how to ride a bicycle. I hope that is true. I’d like to go on bike rides with Tiny-Small. It seems like the older I get the more I worry about getting hurt, but I don’t want to let fear stop me from having fun. On the other hand, if someone were to forget how to ride a bicycle it would be me because I am really good at forgetting things. If only forgetting things brought a person fame and fortune I’d be like the Robert Redford of forgetting things. People would stare in awe as I demonstrated my skill by walking into the room and wondering what I had been looking for, what I was there to do, and why I was wearing Christmas socks in September. I can hear the applause right now.
Even though I spent years on my bike, I still kind of forgot where all of the parts go. I kept my bicycle drawing simple, mostly because I didn’t want to go outside and stare at Tiny-Small’s bike and because I haven’t had any coffee yet. Drawing before coffee might not be the best idea I had today, but that totally happened.
Now I am writing before coffee. Possibly an even worse idea, but sometimes I like living on the edge like that. It spices up my daily routine. Plus, I slept in late so this post is probably going to get published around noon. Sometimes that is just the way life goes, right?
Thank you to everyone participating. Every time I see one of your stickman drawings it makes me smile. It’s not too late to start if you just stumbled upon this challenge, just remember to use the official hashtag: #31stickmen
