Lily of the Valley is one of those plants I often overlook until they flower. When they flower I think they are gorgeous. The rest of the time they make a nice green backdrop for something else. Not that I can grow them here in New Mexico, but back East they grew pretty well. I probably should have appreciated them more when I had the chance!
I really wanted to start painting some fairies into these gardens so I decided to start today. I am having some trouble painting the tiny faces, but I think with a little more practice I’ll get the hang of it. I did use some colored pencils and purple ink on this painting just to define shapes a little more. I also like the illustrative quality the ink adds to a watercolor painting.
