I declared yesterday family art day. Unfortunately, Tiny-Small took a nap through the entire thing. That’s OK because everyday is art day for her. Well, almost everyday. She had already painted pre-nap so I suppose she just arrived at the party early, or we arrived late.
Anyway, Jim and I were rocking out in the studio for a few hours yesterday. If you can call listening to South Asia News Line on PBS as rocking out. Still, we were making art and that’s all that matters. Jim broke into his clay.
Tiny-Small says this clay creature is scary. I think she is right. One day it will be in the garden scaring away all of the birds or …something. Jim says it is a goat-gnome. Just when you think you know about all of the mythical creatures out there, a new one is born.
I finished this painting, The Crane, I had started with Tiny-Small. At least, I think it is finished. Sometimes I don’t know when to stop. This might be one of those times. I think it needs some really, really dark spots to make the rest kind of pop. I am still debating, but it’s pretty much done.
In between waiting for the acrylic to dry I messed around with the ink and Yupo paper. I think I might be falling in love with this new medium. It’s similar to watercolor, but the colors are so vibrant. I think they glow. I am having a blast.
I’m working on a couple of different collages right now too. I hope to blog about them next week. I haven’t been as active on social media lately because I have been busy painting instead. I wish there were more hours in a day. Of course, if there were more hours, I’d probably spend them sleeping, or eating ice cream, or planning all of the exercise I am going to start doing…on Monday.
Have you been working on any creative projects lately?
P.S. We have a new fairy in town.
